The Bobcat

This morning was relatively mild after a week of frosty mornings, here in New Mexico USA. Enjoying a casual walk around the Mesilla Valley Bosque State Park, my attention was drawn to usual howls and barks from a pack of Coyote. These dogs do make a lot of enthusiastic howls and whimpers when they have cornered and caught a rabbit or bird. Today is was very different and I decided to investigate, imagining that the was some other confrontation, perhaps, with our wild pigs the collared peccary or Javalina. Getting closer to the sound I was met by this delightful animal. It has been so elusive, and I have not actually seen one here at the park before. Although, I see their scat and footprints daily. This was a experience that made me happy, very happy all day long.
